The theme for 2023-2024 is Dancing With God

“...I will dance Lord, if you lead me..." - Mechtild of Magdeburg, 13th Century Mystic

Someone once said that dance is the hidden language of the soul, and yet another suggests that dancers don't need wings to fly! Body and soul, heart and spirit, our entire being belongs to God. How fitting then, in a world that has, in so many ways, forgotten how to dance, how to rejoice in being God's very own beloved, that we take time to dance with the Lord, to remember the joy and peace that God wants for each and every one of us.

This retreat invites us to take time for the inner dance. Lean into the movement of our Trinitarian God, within and around us, who invites us to the dance floor of prayer, trust, and life. As we hear anew God's invitation, we may notice some hesitancy, fear or concern of doing it wrong or not feeling comfortable... and we remember it is in God that we live and breathe and have our being...

and the dance begins...

The women from Resurrection are heading to the St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center the weekend of March 15th through the 17th. At first glance that may seem like a long time but it starts with dinner around 6pm on Friday the 15th and ends with morning Mass on Sunday the 17th - and the time flies by!

The theme for the retreat season this year is Dancing with God - can you imagine - dancing with God?! There is so much rhythm to our lives, all our day to day responsibilities, our families, our jobs, etc. This theme has me thinking - am I trying to lead the dance? Am I setting the pace? Or, am I sitting out and watching everyone else dance? I couldn’t help but think of Reba’s song - I Hope You Dance. Do you still feel small when you sit beside the ocean? Do you see one door close and another open? Will you give love more than a fighting chance? And, when you get the chance, will you sit it out or dance? DANCE!!!! I hope you dance!

Won't you join us? Jesus is present there in a special way. Maybe it’s turning off the phone, maybe it’s being away from that regular routine, but I personally get a true sense of the presence of God every time I am there.

If this weekend won't work for you, check out their website stpaulretreat.org and find a weekend that does, invite a friend or two and go. Either way, Jesus is there in a special way, and He's waiting to encounter you.

St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center, 23333 Schoolcraft near I-96 and Telegraph provides a sacred place of hospitality and compassion where all of us are welcome. It’s a place where we can leave our smart phones, emails, and texts behind. Instead bring a copy of the bible and a good spiritual book to read. Plan on attending daily Mass; receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation; praying the rosary; listening to some preaching; meditating on what we hear in silence; learning what Hope means to each of us individually and growing in love with Jesus and learning how to share His love with others. As Catholics we look forward to Heaven and living there for eternity with God. Why not spend a couple days getting to know each other better?
