Opportunities to Serve

Worship Commission Member ~   Members promote and strengthen parish prayer, worship and devotional life and serve the parish in areas of liturgy and ecumenism.

     Commitment:  Monthly meetings, September through June.  

 

Environment and Art Committee ~  A committee of the Worship Commission responsible for enhancing the worship space for seasons of the church year, feasts and special occasions.  Members may do planning or assist with the mechanics of decorating.

     Commitment:  Seasonal and variable.

 

Music Ministry ~  Adults & Teens ~  Members share their instrumental and/or vocal skills to enhance our worship celebrations.

     Commitment:  Weekly evening rehearsals and one weekend liturgy; extended rehearsals during Advent and Lent; no rehearsals during the summer.  

Music Ministry - Youth Music Group ~ Young singers in grades 2 through 8 share their vocal skills to enhance our parish worship celebrations, while developing lasting friendships. 

     Commitment:  Weekly rehearsals on Sunday 6-7 pm, September through April as well as one Mass per month.  The year ends with a fun party for all of the singer!  There is a separate sign-up each fall.

 

Liturgy of the Word for Children ~ Volunteers lead children in age-appropriate worship during the Liturgy of the Word at weekend Masses.  This is not religious formation but rather the Liturgy of the Word adapted for children.  

     Commitment:  Once a month.

 

Sanctuary/Altar Care ~ Volunteers dust the furnishings and fixtures in the church sanctuary and gathering space.  

     Commitment:    Friday mornings about once every 2-3 months.

 

Altar Servers ~  Servers assist the community at weekend and Holy Day Masses by serving at the altar.  Open to boys and girls in fourth grade or above; training is required.  

     Commitment:  Generally, once per month.

 

Eucharistic Ministers ~ Volunteers distribute the Eucharist at weekend Masses and special events (such as Confirmation, First Communion)  Mass preferences are honored; training is required.

     Commitment:  At least once a month.  

 

Eucharistic Ministers to the Homebound ~ Volunteers visit homebound members of the parish, praying with them and offering the Eucharist.  Training required. 

     Commitment:  Varies

 

Waltonwood Eucharistic Ministers ~  Volunteers lead prayer service distribute the Eucharist to senior at both the independent and assisted living areas of this facility.

     Commitment:  Every second month.

 

Readers ~  Readers proclaim the Word of God at weekend and Holy Day Masses.  Mass preferences are honored: training is required. 

     Commitment:  4-6 Masses during 6 month period.

 

Ushers ~  Serve parishioners at worship celebrations by providing guidance and assistance.  Mass preference honored.  Training required. 

     Commitment:  4-6 Masses during 6 month period

 

Greeters ~  These ministers of hospitality greet parishioners and visitors at the church entrance for weekend Masses.  

     Commitment:  One weekend Mass per month.
